Many many years ago I listened to a presentation at Landmark Education. The leader shared the tiger story: the Indian village next to the jungle where the great white tiger lived.

The great white tiger, occasionally, visited the village and feasted on its inhabitants, especially children with their soft flesh.

A group of psychologists arrived from England to find out how the village people reacted to living under the threat of the great white tiger's attacks.

He found that there were five behaviors:

1. Hide from the tiger
2. Outrun the tiger
3. Outsmart the tiger
4. Face the tiger

Facing the tiger, having the courage to tackle that fear, that self-concern head on is what will enable you to become an adult, and have all the adult capacities available to you to start living a life you love, and you can live it powerfully.

As a secret side-note: until you become an adult, everything is about you... and you cannot care, you cannot love...

Taking your eyes off yourself feels like a danger you cannot face... So you pretend, and call people lady, and nice-nice... but you know you are pretending... And you cannot love yourself, because you are full of sh*t...
